Service, for cash devices

The machines are still out there. So is the support for them.

For two decades we distributed coin and note acceptance hardware in Turkey. Demand for cash handling has fallen and we are not chasing that market any more — but the units we put in the field are still running, and so are units other suppliers sold after us. We keep them working, with the stock and the knowledge we already have.

What this page is

Continuity, not a growth line

We would rather be straight about this than dress it up. DMS Tech is a software and platform company; our forward work is the payment and telemetry platform, not cash hardware. This page exists because the hardware we sold is still in service and the people running it should not be stranded.

  • We are not a parts shop

    Cash handling is no longer a market we build for. We do not run a catalogue, we do not carry a price list, and we will tell you honestly when replacing a unit makes more sense than repairing it.

  • The obligation outlasts the contract

    A validator we sold fifteen years ago is still someone's revenue path. Several of the manufacturers we represented have moved on to other partners in Turkey — that does not make the machines in the field disappear.

  • Whoever sold it

    We service units that came through us and units that came through someone else. The device families are the same and so is the diagnosis; where the unit came from is not a useful question.

  • Where this leads, if you want it to

    Often the honest answer to a failing cash unit is that the machine should be taking cards, QR and meal cards instead. That is the platform work — but it is a separate conversation, not a condition of getting help here.

What we actually know down to the board

These are the classes of hardware we distributed, installed and repaired for twenty years — in vending machines, kiosks, ticketing and access control.

Coin validators Electronic coin acceptors — coin sets, rejection and calibration problems, sensing faults, MDB and pulse interfacing to the machine.
Changegivers & recyclers Multi-tube coin changers and recyclers: tube sensing, payout errors, float handling and the accounting mismatches they cause.
Hoppers Bulk coin payout units — jams, miscount, motor and opto faults, and the payout logic that sits between the hopper and the controller.
Note validators Banknote acceptors: note sets and firmware, stacker and transport faults, escrow behaviour, and acceptance rates that quietly drift.
Kiosk & self-service parts The same acceptance hardware inside ticketing, top-up and access-control equipment — where a failed unit stops a queue, not a snack sale.
The bus in between Most 'the unit is dead' calls are not the unit. MDB addressing, polling, power and cabling between the acceptor and the machine controller are where the fault usually is.

Two decades of distribution, stated plainly

We represented these manufacturers in Turkey and sold, installed and supported their hardware across vending and kiosk. Two of the three representations have ended — we say so rather than leaving it implied.

A live example

When a country issues new money, every acceptor in the field goes stale

This is the work that still comes to us, and it is a good illustration of why the knowledge is worth keeping around.

A new banknote or coin entering circulation is not a currency event for an operator — it is a fleet event. Every acceptor in every machine has to learn the new money, one unit at a time. The nearest example is Turkey's 5 TL coin, issued in June 2024.

  • The unit does not know the coin — that is not a fault

    A coin validator measures a fixed set of properties: diameter, thickness, weight and the conductivity signature of the alloy. The 5 TL coin is 28.15 mm across, 1.70 mm thick, 8.25 g and bi-metallic. No coin set written before June 2024 contains that profile — so the unit does not recognise the coin and rejects it. The device is working exactly as designed.

  • The machine starts refusing real money

    A validator only accepts what its coin or note set describes. Money issued after that set was written is, to the unit, invalid — so it is rejected, the customer walks away, and nothing in the machine reports a fault. Revenue drops quietly.

  • It is a per-unit update, not a setting

    Bringing an acceptor up to date means loading a new coin or note set — a firmware-level operation with the manufacturer's tooling, per device family and per model. There is no menu for it on the machine.

  • Age decides the outcome

    Some units take the update and carry on for years. Some are past the point where the manufacturer still issues sets. Knowing which is which before you dismantle a fleet is most of the value.

  • We have done this recently

    We were actively involved in bringing these device families into line with Turkey's newly issued currency — for our own customers and for units that reached them through other suppliers.

FAQ

What operators actually ask

Short answers, including the ones that are not in our commercial interest.

We did not buy the unit from you. Will you still look at it?

Yes. Much of what we see now came through other suppliers, or through us so long ago that the paperwork is gone. The device families are the ones we know; where the unit was bought does not change the diagnosis.

Our machines stopped taking the new notes or coins. Is that a fault?

Almost never. The unit is working exactly as designed — it just does not have the new money in its coin or note set yet. It needs a set update at firmware level, not a repair. Whether that update exists depends on the model's age.

Can you supply spare parts?

For the manufacturer we still represent, through the normal channel. For the ones we no longer represent, from what we hold and what we can source — with no promise we can find every part. We will tell you quickly if we cannot, rather than keeping a machine down while we look.

Is it worth repairing, or should we move to cashless?

Depends on the machine and the site, and we will give you the real answer. A well-kept acceptor in a cash-heavy location can be worth keeping. A unit that is out of firmware support, in a location where people reach for a card, usually is not — and then the conversation is about a payment terminal, not a validator.

Do you still sell cash handling hardware?

Not as a business we are building. We supply what a customer needs to stay running, and we would rather do that than watch a working machine be scrapped over a part.
